Austin Seferian Jenkins' final season at Washington was marked by setbacks. The latest was a stress fracture that was discovered on his foot during his medical exam on the Madden NFL 23 Combine in Indianapolis that kept the player from exercising. Even more serious was his arrest for DUI in March of 2013, for which he plead guilty and served a day in the jail (the remaining 363 days of his sentence have been suspended).

In between, Seferian Jenkins proved his status as among the top tight ends in the United States. Even though his numbers were down from a booming sophomore season, Seferian Jenkins brought away the John Mackey Award as the best tight end in the college game, and could be one of the first players at his position to hear his name called in the Madden NFL 23 Draft in May.

At present, his focus is rehabbing and getting ready for the next stage. He spoke with SB Nation and explained the lessons he learned after his arrest, and also how is he evaluating himself as a player.

What are you doing to prepare for the draft at this moment?

In reality, I'm just rehabilitating my foot. I'm doing exercise, and then I'm all upper body exercises, including some lower exercises such as leg press and so on. I'm watching a film. That's about it really. As for visits.

How's your recovery coming along? How long do you think you'll be able to go 100 percent?
